Mikayla Ironside & Splash - 500mm Junior Handler
Splash and I are honoured to have been chosen to represent Team Canada as a junior handler for the 2020 WAO. I am extremely excited that I will be competing with such an experienced and talented dog. Not only is Splash a fun and spunky dog but she is full of attitude and does not hesitate to point out any mistakes you make. I am 17 years old and this will be my first time competing internationally where as splash has been in agility competitions all over and has brought home three Gold medals for Canada from international competitions.
I found agility through 4H, 5 years ago. I have had the opportunity to work with many different dogs at various levels. This in turn has enabled me to gain knowledge and crucial handling skills.
I started doing competitions about 4 years ago in and around Edmonton, Alberta. I started with our rescue German Shepherd cross and when my parents saw how committed and focused I was about agility they bought my current dog Loki. Loki is still young and not quite ready for an international competition. So Shauna Oliver has generously offered to share Splash with me.
This is a dream come true for me and I am so very grateful to everyone for their support and kindness.
