Cathie Barrett & Maddie - 300mm
Maddie and I are excited to be part of this talented team representing Canada! We are thrilled and honoured to be named to the team for the second year in a row.
I discovered agility 16 years ago when I took classes with my German Shepherd Dog, Riley, for something fun for us to learn together, and as a way to challenge her physically and mentally. I learned the sport with my GSD all those years ago from Art Newman, the man who brought the sport of agility to Canada from England. I am honoured to have known him and call him friend.
Maddie is my second Boston Terrier to play agility. Logan, who passed away in July of 2019 at the age of 13, was my first agility Boston. He took me across the country to 6 National events before losing his sight and ending our agility partnership way too soon.
Maddie is 6 years old and has so much drive! She loves playing agility however, until about 2 years ago, she would regularly stress in the ring in competition. We've worked hard to get through that and build her confidence and our connection. I love how our agility partnership has developed over the years.
I'm looking forward to new adventures with this crazy kid, and I'm thankful to all who have coached us, cheered us on, and supported us on this amazing journey!
